“But I do know when my gender identity is being challenged, denied, erased, and generally shat on. Telling me that my understanding of my gender identity is wrong is not only a shitty and ignorant thing to do, but one that makes about as much sense as telling someone they aren’t gay or hungry or whatever when they have just stated that they actually are one of those things. It is one thing to know that you can’t share your gender identity with the more peripheral people in your life (and I know that I am spoiled by that filial bubble of love comprised of my best friends and my sister, who not only know how I identify but think it’s fucking rad), and another to be very unpleasantly surprised when you do share it with someone who you thought would understand, or at least try to, and realize that you were mistaken. There’s really nothing quite like being reminded that you can’t defend yourself, or speak eloquently regarding your very gender, when someone pulls out the rug from underneath you to remind you that you “aren’t a guy” and that doing things with my own personal body to make myself happy and comfortable , like binding, are “not a good idea.”

So yeah. Fuck you. “
